Toxics Reduction in Child Care
We partner with child care resource and referral agencies and the Early Care and Learning Council to educate child care providers across New York State about common toxic chemicals and how to choose safer products. Through funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, we trained ~440 providers in the Great Lakes Basin and provided direct technical assistance to 48. Through funding from the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I), we trained 75 providers in the Southern Tier. In 2015, we will be coming to the Capital Region, thanks to support again from the NYSP2I. This project helps us work with child care providers to create a safer environment for children, reduce chemicals of concern, and prevent further pollution.
